The team at Rehab Access offers many physical therapy services, including sports injury treatment. We also have many types of therapy at our disposal that may help with these injuries. However, we often include two specific therapies in sports injury recovery plans due to their effectiveness and benefits.
Our team has been working with the residents of Belle Chasse and Gretna, Louisiana since 1999. During that time, we’ve developed strong relationships with our patients by listening to them and helping them achieve their physical therapy goals. We’ll then use a combination of therapy methods to get you the best possible results. A service that completely embodies our commitment to you, the patient, is our sports injury treatment service.
Two therapies we may include in your sports injury treatment
Sports injury treatment is helpful for many different types of sports injuries. At Rehab Access, we know that the types of injuries caused by sports are as varied as the sports themselves. A few of the common types of injuries we see include sprains, strains and repetitive motion injuries. Our team works hard to create a personalized treatment plan for you, and we have two therapy methods in particular that we use for many sports injuries.
The first method we often use for sports injuries is Kinesio taping. This therapy method is relatively new, and you may have seen athletes on television who use it. Our physical therapists use this flexible tape to help support and stabilize sports injuries. The tape itself is very durable, and it can last for a full 24 hours before it needs to be reapplied. As for the benefits this method offers, Kinesio taping helps to improve blood circulation to your injury. This circulation improvement may then lead to less pain and inflammation.
Our team also often uses aquatic therapy for sports injury rehab. This form of therapy takes place in a pool, and can be done as an individual or group session. Our team likes to use aquatic therapy for sports injuries for two main reasons. For one thing, the natural resistance of water is very beneficial for you. It can actually help you improve the strength of sprained or strained muscles without any additional equipment being used. Another reason we’ll often use this type of therapy is that water provides natural compression, which may help to reduce any swelling in your injury.
These are just two of the helpful therapy methods the Rehab Access team may use in your sports injury recovery plan. If you’re ready to get started with your therapy, there’s an easy way to do it. Contact our team at one of our Louisiana locations today to schedule your appointment.
